About us

The Food Cooperatives Network Association is a nationwide community of people and initiatives united by a commitment to a fair, local, and sustainable food system. We support the development of self-governed cooperatives, promote access to good food, and build relationships based on solidarity, democracy, and responsibility. We work together to strengthen local communities and create real change.

Who are we?

We work to support the development and strengthening of food cooperatives in Poland. We promote access to good, local, and ecological food, as well as conscious consumer choices. Through our activities, we engage people in collective action and in building local communities grounded in solidarity and responsibility.

Our values

The Food Cooperatives Network is founded on values that support the creation of a fair, democratic, and sustainable food system. It is a space for collaboration among people and initiatives united by a commitment to access to good, local, and ecological food, and by a belief in the power of community and solidarity.

History of the movement

The food cooperative movement in Poland began as a grassroots response to the need for access to high-quality, local, and ethical food. The first cooperatives were formed by small groups of friends and neighbors who ordered products directly from farmers. Over time, more organized initiatives emerged, bringing people together around shared values: democracy, solidarity, and care for the environment. Today, cooperatives operate in many places across Poland, and their collaboration and experience have led to the creation of the nationwide Food Cooperatives Network.

Our activities

We work to strengthen and develop the network of food cooperatives in Poland through educational, organizational, and advocacy support. We conduct needs assessments, organize trainings, provide individual mentoring, hold nationwide meetings, and carry out initiatives to build a federation of cooperatives. Our goal is to increase the visibility and sustainability of grassroots initiatives based on cooperation, solidarity, and sustainable consumption.
